The New Orleans Privateers will play at home against the Troy Trojans in a midweek baseball game scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, with first pitch set for 4 p.m. at Maestri Field, according to an April 13 announcement.

This game marks the first time the Privateers and Trojans have met in a midweek contest. All previous 30 meetings were either part of weekend series or conference tournaments, with Troy leading the all-time series 21-9.

The Privateers recently secured a ten-inning win over Illinois, highlighted by Evan Rogers’ solo home run. The team has played four extra inning games in their last eight contests. Dylan Biddick contributed by hitting the team’s first lead-off homer of the season during Saturday’s game against Illinois and currently holds a .406 batting average as a leadoff batter this year. Sunday’s matchup marked the sixth time this season that New Orleans hit three or more home runs in one game; their total of 43 home runs through 38 games ranks third in the Southland Conference and 69th nationally among Division I teams.

Jack Garvey had his longest outing of the season on Saturday, pitching four innings against Illinois. He has stranded all five runners he inherited across his eleven appearances this year.

Troy enters Tuesday’s contest with an even record of 18-18 after winning two out of three games against Texas State last weekend. The Trojans recorded a .345 team batting average over those games and scored a total of 32 runs. Jimmy Janicki leads Troy with a .333 batting average, along with team highs in doubles (11), home runs (9), and RBIs (42). As a team, Troy is hitting .279 entering this week.
