The New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball team will play their first home game of 2026 at Lakefront Arena on Saturday, facing the East Texas A&M Lions at 2 p.m.

The Privateers are seeking their first win of the season after a recent 85-54 defeat to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In that game, the Islanders made 12 three-pointers, with 10 coming in the first half. Jayla Kimbrough led New Orleans with 15 points.

Hailee Brennen scored a season-high 12 points against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, marking her first double-digit scoring performance since November 9, 2023, when she played for Florida A&M. Brennen is now the ninth Privateer this season to reach double figures in a game.

Brialle Washington played all 45 minutes in an overtime loss to UTRGV, tying for the fifth most minutes played in a single game in program history. Lauren Banks also logged significant time with 44 minutes played in Monday’s game. The last time two Privateers each played over 40 minutes in one game was on February 24, 2024.

Kimbrough recorded her fifth double-double as a Privateer during the UTRGV matchup, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds in just 24 minutes. Four of these double-doubles have come against Southland Conference opponents.

Historically, New Orleans has split their six meetings with East Texas A&M evenly at three wins apiece. Last season, the Privateers swept the series with an overtime victory on the road and a decisive win at home.

East Texas A&M enters Saturday’s contest ranked fourth in the Southland Conference for scoring offense at nearly 67 points per game but lost their most recent outing to Lamar by a score of 64-48. Reza Po leads both the conference and her team in field goal percentage and scoring average. Alongside Po, Tiani Ellison, Cora Horvath, and Ahmya Boyce have started every game for the Lions this season.
