The New Orleans Privateers women’s basketball team is set to host two home games this week, beginning with a matchup against Lamar on Thursday and continuing with a Saturday doubleheader opener against Stephen F. Austin.

In their most recent game, the Privateers were defeated by Nicholls 79-64. Lauren Banks led the team with 15 points, and three players scored in double figures. However, Nicholls outscored New Orleans 23-9 in the fourth quarter.

Hailee Brennen has increased her playing time recently, setting season highs in minutes played over the last four games with 29 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and 30 against Southeastern. Previously, she had only surpassed 15 minutes three times in 11 games, with a prior high of 19 minutes against Tulsa. Over her last four contests, Brennen is averaging 6.3 rebounds per game.

Jayla Kimbrough has averaged 12 points per game since Southland Conference play began and has reached double-digit scoring in five of her last seven appearances. She is also averaging six rebounds per game during this period.

Lauren Banks continues to contribute on offensive rebounds for New Orleans. In seven conference games, she has collected 24 offensive boards and ranks third in the league for that category during Southland-only matchups. As a team, the Privateers lead the conference in offensive rebounds since league play started.

Historically, New Orleans holds a 19-25 record against Lamar but has lost the last three meetings between the teams. Against Stephen F. Austin, New Orleans is 4-11 all-time; Stephen F. Austin has won four consecutive games in this series.

Lamar enters Thursday’s contest undefeated at home (7-0) but holds a 1-6 record on the road this season. The Cardinals are coming off a win over UIW and have posted a 5-2 mark in Southland play so far. They allow just under 60 points per game defensively—the second-best figure in the conference—and Jacei Denley leads all players in three-point shooting percentage at nearly 45 percent.

Stephen F. Austin stands at an overall record of 11-5 and matches Lamar’s conference record at 5-2 while riding a four-game winning streak into this week’s action. Four Lady Jacks players rank among the top scorers in the Southland Conference, led by Harmanie Dominguez who averages nearly fifteen points per game; as a team they score more than any other squad in the league at just over seventy-six points per contest.
