New Orleans Privateers women’s tennis falls to Stephen F. Austin in 7-0 loss

The New Orleans Privateers women’s tennis team lost 7-0 to the Stephen F. Austin Lady Jacks on March 15 at the Schlief Tennis Complex in Nacogdoches, Texas.

The match saw Fleur Sprengers and Danique Vermue secure a doubles win for New Orleans with a 7-5 victory over Avery Kinsey and Ana Paula Chavez. However, Stephen F. Austin had already clinched the doubles point after winning matches at flight one (6-3) and flight three (6-2).

In singles play, Stephen F. Austin did not drop a set throughout the day, improving their overall season record to 3-6. Ksenia Momontova was first off court for SFA with a 6-2, 6-2 win at flight three. Ana Paula Chavez followed by taking her match at flight five with scores of 6-4, 6-2. Sonja Rooth clinched the overall match for SFA at flight one with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

Avery Kinsey continued SFA’s success by winning her match at flight six (6-3, 6-3). Antonella Taco won her contest with a late break in the second set for a final score of 6-2, 7-5. Felicia Back completed the sweep by conceding only five games in her straight sets win (6-2, 6-3).

This result marks the second consecutive season that Stephen F. Austin has swept New Orleans in women’s tennis.

Looking ahead, New Orleans will face Tulane on March 19 at 2 p.m.
