The New Orleans Privateers women’s tennis team will play against Tulane on Thursday, followed by home matches against Lamar on Saturday and UIW on Monday, according to a March 18 announcement.

These upcoming matches come after the Privateers began Southland Conference play last weekend with two losses: a close 4-3 defeat to Northwestern State and a 7-0 loss to Stephen F. Austin. The team is looking to rebound as they return home for conference competition.

Fleur Sprengers, who had started the season with nine straight singles wins, saw her streak end against Stephen F. Austin but remains undefeated in straight sets at flight one this season. In doubles play, Sprengers and Danique Vermue have compiled a strong 6-1 record at flight two heading into the week.

Kateryna Kalistratova has also contributed with a 7-2 singles record at flight two, including five straight-set victories and a recent win over Northwestern State. Historically, Tulane has won the last 14 meetings between the teams since 2004, though New Orleans has managed to score two points in each of their last three encounters. Against Lamar, the Privateers have split their last six meetings since 2018. The team is seeking to break a two-match losing streak against UIW after previously winning eight consecutive matches versus the Cardinals.
