New Orleans Privateers women’s tennis season ends with loss to McNeese

The New Orleans Privateers women’s tennis team ended their season on April 19 with a 4-0 defeat against the McNeese Cowgirls at the Thompson Family Tennis Center in Beaumont, Texas.

The match marked the conclusion of the Privateers’ campaign as McNeese advanced to the semifinals of the Southland Tournament. The outcome was determined by strong performances from McNeese in both doubles and singles matches.

In doubles play, Fleur Sprengers and Danique Vermue led their flight one match 5-2 before it was left unfinished. However, McNeese secured victories in flights two and three with scores of 6-0 and 6-1, earning them the first point of the day.

During singles competition, Stella Rundova won her match at flight three for McNeese by a score of 6-1, 6-0. Erica Hagi followed closely behind with a win at flight five (6-1, 6-1), while Ana Hollweg clinched the deciding point at flight four (6-1, 6-2). In other matches that were underway when play concluded, Sprengers had taken her first set against Salome Fluri but trailed in the second set. Kateryna Kalistratova led her second set after dropping her first to Alexa Martinez. Elena Morales took her opening set for McNeese at flight six before that contest was halted.
