The University of New Orleans track and field teams will conclude their 2026 season with a trip to Nacogdoches, Texas for the Southland Outdoor Championships, taking place from May 14 to May 16.

This event is significant as it marks the final competition of the season for both men’s and women’s teams. The Privateers are set to participate in a range of events, with athletes competing in sprints, middle-distance races, relays, throws, and hurdles.

Athletes representing New Orleans include Mason Appleton (1500 meters), Daryl Bachmann (100 meters, 200 meters), Brandt Blanchard (800 meters), Katie Burnett (200 meters, 400 meters), Kenneth Cerrato (800 meters), Antonio Creger (shot put), Christina Davis (hammer throw, shot put), Antonio Delgado (10,000 meters), Erin Grime (800 meters, 1500 meters), Serenity Harris (200 meters, 400 meters), Nyah Harrison (200 meters, 400 meters), Landen Juneau (1500 meters), Yoran Kabengele-Kabala (100 meters, 200 meters), Olamipo Ladipo (100 meters, 200 meters), Henry Livingston (10,000 meters), Tshilidzi Netshiombo (100m) London Parker (800m) Jose Manuel Rodriguez(800m) Anais Sulpice(800m/1500m) Ben Stumm(1500m) Agathe Tronchon(400 hurdles/400m) Keldrick Turner(200/400m) Candilynn Vega(800m) Alex Williams(1500m) LeeAira Williams(100/200m) Keon Woolridge(hammer throw) Grant Young(800).

Several Privateers currently hold top-10 rankings within the Southland Conference this season. Notably Kabengele-Kabala is ranked second in the men’s 100-meter dash and seventh in the men’s 200-meter dash; Blanchard holds tenth place in the men’s 800-meter; Ladipo ranks sixth in the men’s 100-meter and fifth in the men’s 200-meter; LeeAira Williams is fourth among women in the women’s 100-meter; Turner is third for men’s four hundred meter and sixth for two hundred meter; Sulpice holds seventh position among women’s eight hundred meter runners; Rodriguez ranks fifth for men’s eight hundred meter. Relay teams also feature prominently: The men’s four by one hundred team ranks third while their four by four hundred team stands at sixth. For women’s relays—the four by one hundred squad sits at sixth.

Kabengele-Kabala’s time of ten point twenty seconds at Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays places him twenty-eighth regionally while Turner’s forty-six point twelve seconds at LSU Alumni Gold meets puts him fortieth—both on pace for NCAA East Regional qualification. The men’s relay time currently stands twenty-fifth nationally with only top twenty-four advancing—just behind Charlotte’s qualifying mark.

Last year saw both New Orleans squads finish eleventh overall—with Christopher Murphy leading scoring on men’s side and Helen Baumgarten plus Annika Metzger pacing women. Their best recent finishes were fifth place for men in two thousand twenty-two with one-hundred-four points—and third place last year for women with ninety-eight points. Stephen F. Austin University has previously hosted three championships but this will be UNO’s first visit to Homer Bryce Stadium.
