NOPD Arrests Suspect in Investigation of September 2023 Homicide

The NOPD has arrested Teddy Allen (black male, DOB: 11-02-1981) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 17, 2023, in the 3700 block of Garden Oaks Drive.

At about 12:03 p.m. on September 17, NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a reported shooting in the 3700 block of Garden Oaks Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male gunshot wound victim inside of a vehicle. The victim was declared deceased on scene and the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

On September 19, 2023, the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 32-year-old Nelson Harry and determine preliminary cause of death to be from gunshot wound injuries.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Allen as the perpetrator in this incident. An arrest warrant was obtained for Allen on one count of second-degree murder.

Allen was found to currently be in custody in the Orleans Parish Justice Center in regard to a separate incident. He was subsequently re-booked on the additional charge.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
