The New Orleans Privateers baseball team secured a 13-6 victory over the UTRGV Vaqueros on Sunday at UTRGV Baseball Stadium. The win was highlighted by four home runs from the Privateers and a five-run fourth inning that gave them control of the game.

UTRGV took an early lead with a three-run homer by Julius Ramirez in the first inning. After that, New Orleans pitcher Bryson Goff kept the Vaqueros scoreless for the next four innings.

The Privateers began their comeback in the third inning with home runs from Eli Tidwell and Owen Smith, tying the game. In the fourth, New Orleans sent nine batters to the plate and scored five runs on five hits. Tidwell contributed a sacrifice bunt for the go-ahead run, Kareh Valentin added an RBI single, Evan Rogers hit a two-run single, and Adrian Dominguez capped off the inning with another RBI single.

New Orleans continued to add to their lead as Tidwell hit his second home run of the day, making him the second Privateer in two days to achieve this feat. Eddie Castillo also recorded his first home run of the season during his first start in the field. By the sixth inning, New Orleans led 12-3.

UTRGV narrowed the gap with an Armani Raygoza homer and a two-run double from Ethan Edinger. In the seventh inning, UTRGV loaded the bases with no outs but relief pitcher Lane Alack struck out one batter and induced two weak outs to escape without allowing any runs. Alack finished pitching two innings and earned his first save of the season.

Raygoza and Ramirez combined for four hits and four RBIs for UTRGV. Mason Engel allowed seven runs over just over three innings and took the loss for UTRGV.

For New Orleans, Tidwell drove in four runs while Smith had three hits and three RBIs. Dylan Biddick contributed two doubles and scored once. Castillo reached base four times during his debut start in the field. Goff struck out five batters across six innings to pick up his second win of 2026.

The Privateers are scheduled to host Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
