The New Orleans Privateers will finish a 10-game road trip in Mobile when they face the South Alabama Jaguars at Stanky Field, with first pitch scheduled for 4:05 p.m. on March 30.
This matchup comes after the Privateers were swept by Southeastern over the weekend, losing the series finale 7-5. It was the first sweep in this series since 2022.
New Orleans enters the game with a team slugging percentage of .448 and is one of three teams in the Southland Conference to reach at least 50 doubles this season. The team has also recorded 36 home runs, including six hit during their recent games in Hammond, and leads the conference with a total of 461 bases.
Kruise Newman contributed two home runs over the weekend, bringing his season tally to eight and tying him for second place in home runs within the conference alongside Caston Thompson of Nicholls and Cole Tabor of Incarnate Word. Armani Raygoza from Texas Rio Grande Valley currently leads with ten homers. Brock Hill delivered his fourth consecutive scoreless appearance Saturday against Southeastern, pitching a total of six and one-third innings without allowing a run throughout March.
Evan Rogers and Owen Smith have helped New Orleans amass a total of 36 stolen bases so far this year. Smith has nine steals out of ten attempts while Rogers has succeeded eight times out of ten tries.
The Privateers have won four straight games against South Alabama dating back to last year, matching their longest winning streak against this opponent since a similar stretch between 2007-08.
South Alabama will start former Privateer Hayden O’Dell on Tuesday; he holds a record of one win and one loss with an earned run average (ERA) of 5.96 across six starts this season. Blake Guerin leads South Alabama offensively with ten home runs and thirty-one runs batted in (RBI), while Brennon Wright is hitting .398 through more than one hundred at-bats.
