The New Orleans Privateers baseball team defeated the Tulane Green Wave 11-3 on Tuesday night at Maestri Field. The Privateers took control early, scoring six runs in the first inning with two home runs. Owen Smith hit a two-run homer to give New Orleans a 2-1 lead, and Jake D’Altrui followed with a grand slam, his first home run of the season.

Tulane scored once in the top of the first inning on a double by Jason Wachs and added two more runs later to make it 6-3. However, they were unable to score again for the rest of the game. Bryson Goff pitched into the sixth inning for New Orleans, allowing no runs over his last 3.1 innings and striking out four batters before turning things over to the bullpen.

Relievers Gus Rogers, Brycen Smith, Lane Alack, and Karson Evans limited Tulane to just one hit across the final 4.1 innings. Brycen Smith ended a Tulane threat in the sixth by inducing a pop up with runners on base.

The Privateers’ offense added three more runs in the eighth inning, including a two-run double from Dylan Biddick that brought his season RBI total to ten.

Tulane managed only five hits in total—four of them doubles—with Wachs collecting three hits for his team.

Eli Tidwell and Owen Smith combined for six hits, four runs scored, and four RBI for New Orleans. Karson Evans contributed both offensively and defensively with a scoreless inning on the mound as well as a hit, walk, and two runs scored at bat. Evan Rogers finished with two hits and one run scored.
