Sarah Rubi of Tulane University was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for women’s bowling, according to a March 13 announcement by the league. Rubi, a graduate student and member of the 17th-ranked Green Wave, is one of only six athletes in the conference to receive this recognition.
The selection highlights academic achievement among student-athletes in Conference USA. Rubi’s inclusion on the team underscores her performance both in academics and athletics during her first season with Tulane after transferring from Lincoln Memorial.
Rubi, who hails from Metairie, Louisiana, joins Aleesha Oden (Wichita State), Emma Yoder (Jacksonville State), Megan Prettyman (Sacred Heart), Jenna Stretch (Louisiana Tech), and Kaylee Back (Arkansas State) on the all-academic team. She previously earned her Bachelor of Science in computer science at Lincoln Memorial and is now pursuing a Master of Science in computer science at Tulane with a 3.890 GPA. Rubi has also received NTCA All-Academic honors.
On the lanes, Rubi has an overall fill percentage of 81.8 percent with 266 strikes this season. Her makeable spare percentage stands at 79.8 percent, tying her for second place on the team.
Tulane is currently competing in the USBC Intercollegiate Singles and Team Sectionals in Fort Worth, Texas. The singles competition takes place this afternoon at Cityview Lanes, followed by team events over the next two days.
