The New Orleans Privateers lost to Southeastern by a score of 7-5 on Sunday afternoon, March 29, as Southeastern completed a series sweep. The game took place in Hammond, Louisiana, where the Privateers rallied from an early deficit but were unable to secure the win.

This matchup was significant as it marked the first time since 2022 that one team swept the other in this series. The Privateers initially trailed after Southeastern scored four runs in the second inning. However, Kruise Newman put New Orleans on the board with a two-run home run to center field.

Evan Rogers and Adrian Dominguez contributed key at-bats for New Orleans in the fifth inning. Rogers drove in Owen Smith with a single after falling behind in the count, and Dominguez tied the game at five with his first home run of the season after fouling off several pitches. Despite this rally, Southeastern responded immediately when Peyton Woods doubled and later scored on Connor Cuff’s groundout. Ben Robichaux added another run for Southeastern with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Nik Toups pitched effectively for Southeastern out of the bullpen, holding New Orleans hitless over three and two-thirds innings while striking out four batters. In their final opportunity, New Orleans drew two walks but could not capitalize as Dakota Lee closed out the game with a strikeout.

Dane Watts led Southeastern offensively by going three-for-four with two doubles and two runs scored. Blaise Priester added two hits including a double. For New Orleans, both Newman and Rogers had multi-hit games while Eli Tidwell contributed a double and Dathan Cummings along with Kareh Valentin each collected hits.

Looking ahead, New Orleans will play South Alabama next on Tuesday at 4:05 p.m., following an adjustment to their schedule.
