The New Orleans Privateers lost a close game to Southeastern on Mar. 27, as a late home run in the eighth inning led to a 13-11 defeat at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
The game was marked by several comebacks. The Privateers trailed 7-1 after four innings but narrowed the gap with runs in the fifth and sixth innings. In the seventh, Kruise Newman hit a home run to tie the score at 7-7, followed by Jayden Adcox’s home run that gave New Orleans its first lead of the night. The team scored ten runs off Southeastern’s bullpen during this stretch.
Southeastern responded quickly, with Justin Williams hitting his third home run of the night and Blaise Priester tying the game with a double. Priester later hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning that put Southeastern ahead for good.
Dylan Biddick briefly restored New Orleans’ lead with a solo home run in the eighth, but Priester’s late shot decided the outcome. Tristan Todorowski closed out the ninth inning for Southeastern, retiring all three batters he faced and earning his first win of the season.
There were nine total home runs between both teams during this high-scoring contest. For New Orleans, Tyler Velino pitched 2.1 scoreless innings and lowered his season earned run average to 0.59. Biddick drew two walks and hit two homers, while Evan Rogers went three-for-four with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.
The series will continue on Saturday with another matchup scheduled for 2 p.m.
