New Orleans-Metairie metro surpass El Paso in 2019

The New Orleans-Metairie metro area exported $34.1 billion in 2019, more than exports from El Paso in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The New Orleans-Metairie metro area consists of eight counties.

The El Paso metro area comprises two counties exporting $32.7 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
