A day after three juveniles allegedly committed an attempted armed robbery and then a carjacking, the suspects have been arrested in a joint operation with NOPD and ATF.

On Wednesday July 5, 2023, at about 3:42 p.m., Sixth District officers responded to an attempted armed robbery with a gun in the 800 block of Aline Street.

Shortly thereafter, an armed carjacking was reported in the 2300 block of Laurel Street.  An adult female was carjacked of her 2020 Acura RDX, with suspects fitting the description of the perpetrators in the Aline Street incident.

Immediately, Sixth and Second District Investigative Units joined forces with members of the NOPD Special Operations Division tactical platoons, the Violent Crime Abatement and Investigation Team and the ATF to begin an investigation.

That led to the arrest of three juveniles a day later on July 6, 2023.  Two of the arrested juveniles are 14 years of age, the other is 15 years old.

All have been charged with the attempted armed robbery and armed carjacking.

In addition, two weapons were recovered (pictured) and the stolen Accura was also recovered.

Anyone with additional information about these incidents is asked to contact the Sixth or Second Districts at 504-658-6060 or 504-658-6020 respectively.
