NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced the official launch of the Lincoln Beach Redevelopment Master Planning Process. The first Lincoln Beach Redevelopment Master Plan Community Milestone Meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 23. at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 8181 Lake Forest Blvd. Residents are invited to attend either the morning session at 8:30 a.m. or the evening session at 6 p.m. The same information will be covered at each session. To attend the meeting, residents must register at LincolnBeach.NOLA.gov.
For the success of this project, it is essential to have diverse participation and solicit valuable community input from all constituents throughout the city and the metropolitan area. This first public meeting will introduce and welcome the community to the current Lincoln Beach Redevelopment process. The focus of the meeting is to craft the project goals and guiding principles that will be defined during the initial set of interviews, inventory and analysis mapping. It will also serve to clarify the Master Planning Process.
Since Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans East community has advocated for several projects that are critical to revitalizing New Orleans East. Over the past five years, the community’s momentum for re-opening Lincoln Beach has increased. In response to the community's focus, the City has dedicated resources to begin the engineering and master planning processes.
The City reminds residents that Lincoln Beach is currently closed to the public due to the presence of alligators, venomous snakes and poisonous flora. Gathering at the beach is prohibited.
