NOPD Seeking Suspect in Seventh District Homicide Investigation

The NOPD is asking for the public's assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in a homicide that occurred near the intersection of Eunice and Hammond Streets. 

On January 12, 2024, around 8:33 a.m., the victim observed the suspect enter his vehicle in the 4500 Block of Camelot Drive. The victim tried to gain control of the vehicle. During the struggle inside the vehicle, the suspect shot the victim several times. The suspect fled the location, and the victim was transported to a local hospital by NOEMS, where he was declared deceased on January 19, 2024. 

On January 23, 2024, The Orleans Parish Coroner identified the victim as 58-year-old Joey Breland and determined the cause of death to be from gunshot wound injuries.  

Through investigation, the above-pictured subject, wearing a brown beanie, black hoodie, blue jeans, and brown shoes, was developed as the perpetrator in this incident.
