The Horses, Hops and Cops fundraiser, held January 31, 2024, raised over $35,000 for the NOPD Mounted Unit!

That is $5,000 more than the 2023 figure and one of the highest grossing years for the event.

Although it is free for everyone to attend, proceeds raised from sponsorships, concession sales, raffle tickets, VIP experience tickets, photo sales and other donations all go to support the NOPD Mounted Unit.

This year, the Unit is looking to replace three horses who will be retiring, plus any needed equipment.

The NOPD Mounted Unit is a vital resource in helping deter criminal activity in the City of New Orleans, especially its hospitality district as well as providing world renowned crowd-control during large events such as Mardi Gras.

“We are grateful for the many sponsors who support this iconic unit and ensure that the NOPD is able to maintain and grow its stable of horses for years to come," says Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.  "We also want to thank Budweiser, who's Clydesdales are a big draw and the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation which coordinates the event each year and the many attendees who helped make it such a success this year."
