This week in Nola history.

Born March 24, 1976

Peyton Manning was born on March 24, 1976, in New Orleans. He grew up in the city and attended Isidore Newman School. His father, Archie Manning, played for the New Orleans Saints. Peyton became a standout high school quarterback in New Orleans. He later played college football at the University of Tennessee. He was the first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. He played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos. He won two Super Bowls and was named NFL MVP five times. He retired in 2016. Manning is considered one of the top quarterbacks in NFL history. His early football development began in New Orleans, where he lived with his family and played high school football. The city helped shape his early path toward a long and successful career.
