Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing local milestones and policy concerns.

On August 14, 2025, Carter celebrated a community member’s centennial birthday, writing: “Happy 100th birthday to Mrs. Cecile Knox Gable — a beloved part of #LA02. As an avid gardener, she’s blessed us with both beautiful flowers and timeless wisdom. We’re grateful for all you’ve sown, Mrs. Gable!”

Later that day, Carter highlighted issues facing Social Security recipients in his district: “There are over 147,000 #SocialSecurity recipients in #LA02. Since Trump took office, Republicans have decimated the Social Security workforce and cut services for our seniors.
As we mark 90 years since FDR signed it into law, I’m committed to protecting your hard-earned benefits”
(August 14, 2025).

Addressing hurricane preparedness on August 15, Carter commented on federal levee inspection policies: “In the midst of hurricane season and nearly 20 years since Katrina, Trump is suspending @USACEHQ levee inspections in New Orleans for 2 years. Levee safety is not optional and the cost of prevention is far less than the cost — in lives and dollars — of another catastrophic”.

Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District since replacing Cedric Richmond in Congress in 2021. Before his current role, he served in both chambers of the Louisiana legislature between 1992 and 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana (1986), Carter continues to reside in New Orleans while advocating for local interests at the federal level.
