Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on August 11, 2025, addressing both local achievements and international issues.
In a message celebrating New Orleans talent, Carter wrote: “Congratulations to my dear friend and New Orleans’ native son @AnthonyMackie on the second season of his hit series Twisted Metal! As both star and executive producer, he continues to make #LA02 proud. It’s inspiring to see our hometown talent shine on the national stage and https://t.co/KUbNZaJBYh” (August 11, 2025).
Later that day, Carter commented on developments in the Middle East: “Israel’s decision to escalate its offensive in Gaza is deeply misguided and pushes peace further out of reach. Far too many lives have already been lost—this escalation is not the answer. We must end this war, open access to humanitarian aid, release ALL hostages immediately, and” (August 11, 2025).
He also invited followers to participate in an event: “Join me tonight! https://t.co/4BsJTLBCnN” (August 11, 2025).
Carter has served as the representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021. He previously held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
