Congressman Troy A. Carter, representing Louisiana’s 2nd district, recently took to social media to discuss upcoming events and critical issues. Carter, who succeeded Cedric Richmond in 2021, is focusing on healthcare concerns following recent legislative developments.
On July 9, 2025, Congressman Carter announced via Twitter that he would be hosting a town hall the following day. The event will feature Representatives Jeffries, Robin Kelly, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Barragan to address what he described as “Trump’s attack on Americans Healthcare.” He emphasized the importance of this conversation in light of the passage of the “#BigUGLYBill” and provided a link for RSVPs.
Later that same day, Carter shared another tweet highlighting his discussion with Brian Haldane on Talk 107.3 FM. They talked about Essence Fest’s cultural significance to New Orleans and how it serves as “a party with a purpose.” Additionally, they covered how the Big Ugly Bill might affect residents of Louisiana and mentioned the upcoming town hall event.
On July 10, 2025, Carter reiterated his invitation for the town hall via another tweet. He confirmed that the discussion would focus on healthcare issues related to Trump’s policies and reiterated its critical nature post-passage of the #BigUGLYBill. The event was scheduled for broadcast at 6 PM CT.
Troy Carter has been serving in Congress since 2021 after a career in state politics including terms in both the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate. Born in New Orleans in 1963, he continues to reside there today.
