Congressman Troy A. Carter, representing Louisiana’s 2nd district since 2021, recently took to social media to express his views on several pressing issues. His tweets addressed concerns over Medicaid, Head Start funding, and President Biden’s health.
On May 18, 2025, Congressman Carter commented on the state of a legislative bill associated with former President Trump. He stated that “Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ is falling apart—and Republicans are scrambling.” He urged continued advocacy for Medicaid by encouraging constituents to contact GOP members with the message: “HANDS OFF MEDICAID.”
Later that day, Carter reflected on the anniversary of Head Start, a program established sixty years ago. In his tweet from May 18, he highlighted its significance in providing equal opportunities for children and criticized proposed funding cuts by the current administration. He asserted “the Trump-Musk administration is trying to cut funding for this vital program.” Carter pledged ongoing opposition to these cuts.
In another tweet dated May 18, Congressman Carter expressed support for President Biden following a cancer diagnosis. He shared personal sentiments about the president’s character and leadership: “He is a true statesman, patriot, and worldwide respected icon.” Carter conveyed appreciation for Biden’s kindness towards him and his family during their service together.
Congressman Troy A. Carter has been an active member of Congress since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021. Before serving in Congress, he was part of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and served in the Louisiana Senate from 2016 until his congressional election.
