Congressman Troy A. Carter, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Louisiana’s 2nd district since 2021, recently shared his views on social media regarding issues of constitutional integrity and healthcare accessibility.
On May 13, 2025, Congressman Carter addressed allegations involving former President Trump in a tweet. He stated, “If Trump took a $400M jet from Qatar, that’s a blatant violation of the Constitution. The presidency is not for sale. The Emoluments Clause exists to protect us from corruption. We need answers—and accountability. I won’t stay silent.”
Later that day, he highlighted the significance of Medicaid for residents in his district with another tweet: “Medicaid means life for people in #LA02 like Connor. His parents were told he might not survive childhood, but this month he graduated from high school with his peers. Because of his Medicaid waiver, he lived to see that day.” Carter emphasized that Medicaid serves everyone and its importance cannot be underestimated.
Continuing on the topic of Medicaid’s impact on families, Carter tweeted about a personal encounter: “Today, Casey Henry stopped by my office to tell me about her daughter Katie Copes. Medicaid shouldn’t be about politics; it’s about people.” He reiterated his commitment to fighting for families relying on Medicaid.
Troy Carter was born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently resides there. He holds a BA from Xavier University of Louisiana and previously served in both the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate before joining Congress.
