Troy A. Carter, a Congressman representing Louisiana’s 2nd district, shared a series of tweets on April 1, 2025, addressing critical social and legislative issues. The tweets cover topics such as voting rights and support for transgender communities.

In a tweet posted on April 1, 2025, Carter raised concerns about voting rights, saying, “Did you know poll taxes were outlawed by the 24th Amendment? Today, Republicans are trying to bring them back with the so-called ‘SAVE’ Act, a modern-day Jim Crow bill restricting access to the ballot box. #TuesdayTidbit”

Another tweet on the same day highlighted potential voter disenfranchisement due to complex voter registration requirements. Carter stated, “Imposing overly complicated and expensive voter registration requirements is an unconstitutional poll tax and will disenfranchise millions of voters across the country. Who pays the price? Married women, rural communities, military families, people of color, low-income”

Carter also expressed support for trans rights in a later tweet on April 1, 2025. He tweeted, “This #TransDayOfVisibility, we stand in unwavering solidarity with trans communities. Trans rights are human rights! We push back against Trump and the GOP’s hateful anti-trans agenda. You will not be erased — your fight is our fight.”
