Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of tweets addressing issues related to airline passenger protections, cancer research funding, and prostate cancer awareness.
On September 16, 2025, Carter wrote: “Did you know Trump wants to roll back protections for airline passengers secured under the Biden Administration? That means: No guaranteed compensation for disrupted flights No refunds for broken services like Wi-Fi Less transparency in airfares Fewer protections for https://t.co/2CONdGCM8A”.
The following day, on September 17, 2025, he criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to cancer research funding. In his tweet Carter stated: “Trump is shutting down lifesaving cancer research. Studies to improve childhood cancer survival rates and breakthrough immunotherapy are being canceled. This isn’t policy—it’s cruelty. We should be investing in cures, not cutting hope. #WarOnCancer #CancerResearch https://t.co/6Xf57iCUMn”.
Also on September 17, Carter addressed racial disparities in prostate cancer outcomes and legislative efforts to raise awareness. He tweeted: “Every year, Black men are twice as likely to die from prostate cancer as white men. As co-chair of the #MensHealthCaucus, I’m proud to introduce a bipartisan Resolution to recognize September as #ProstateCancerAwareness Month. Together, we can increase awareness and beat this https://t.co/mwxPxcpg7l”.
Carter has served Louisiana’s 2nd District since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond and previously held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992-1994) and Senate (2016-2021). Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
