Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to inform constituents about local resource fairs and express concern over rising gas prices in Louisiana.
On March 9, 2026, Carter posted an invitation for community members needing help with federal agencies: “Do you need assistance with a federal agency? My office is here to help. I’m hosting a #CurbsideResourceFair to connect you with support for passports, taxes, legal services, veterans’ benefits, Social Security, the IRS and more. The Department of Vital Records will be present to https://t.co/m0b5RrL7Hj”.
Later that day, he commented on fuel costs in the state: “Gas prices in Louisiana just jumped 43 cents a gallon in one week, one of the highest increases in the country. When asked about the largest single-day jump in average gas price in years, however, Trump said he doesn’t ‘have any concern about it’. Affordability is a real concern https://t.co/rlupqgQdg2”.
On March 10, Carter highlighted another outreach event: “Another successful resource fair and townhall in #LA02! People were able to receive help with passports, Social Security, the VA and more. I also visited with constituents to talk to about the challenges they’re facing and how I’m fighting for them. Subscribe to my newsletter https://t.co/vwDScA1CJF”.
Carter has served as U.S. Representative since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond. He previously held seats in both chambers of Louisiana’s legislature—serving from 1992-1994 in the House of Representatives and from 2016-2021 in the Senate. Born and residing in New Orleans since his birth in 1963 at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
