Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted local achievements and opportunities through a series of posts on his social media account.

On October 19, 2025, Carter congratulated a colleague, stating, “Congratulations to my dear friend @calvinmackie on being named a Champion of STEM by @STEMecosystems! Dr. Mackie and @STEMNola are doing remarkable work to empower our next generation of innovators and leaders. This recognition is well deserved!”

The following day, October 20, 2025, Carter described the scope of his district and its assets: “As the Congressman representing #LA02 — home to the National Finance Center, the Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters, some of the world’s largest energy reserves, busy ports, and an international airport that connects our region to the world — I’ve seen firsthand how dangerous and”.

Later on October 20, Carter addressed students in his district with a reminder about internship opportunities: “Reminder #LA02 students: Applications for @CBCFinc Spring 2026  internships are now open! This fantastic opportunity has helped many young people develop their careers. The deadline to apply is TODAY!”

Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond. He previously held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992-1994) and the Louisiana Senate (2016-2021). Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986 with a BA.
