Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing local milestones and national policy concerns.
On August 11, 2025, Carter posted a birthday message to a constituent: “Happy 100th birthday to Mr. Willie Williams, Sr.! Mr. Williams is a pillar of, not only his loving family, but also of #LA02. He is a cornerstone of wisdom, grace, and community spirit. Today we celebrate his remarkable century of life. Happy birthday, Mr. Williams!”
The following day, August 12, Carter highlighted an upcoming event focused on climate resilience and remembrance: “#LA02: Reminder, I’ll be a panelist at @WWNO’s Sea Change Live event! We’ll commemorate 20 years since Hurricane Katrina and focus on the future of our communities as climate change increases our vulnerabilities. Come be part of the live studio audience!”
Later that same day, Carter addressed recent actions by the President regarding federal intervention in city police forces: “The President’s attempt to seize control of Washington, D.C.’s police force—and his suggestion that he may do the same other cities is an alarming and dangerous overreach by the Executive Branch. Here in New Orleans, we are committed to protecting the rights of our residents to”
Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond as representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district. He previously held seats in both chambers of the Louisiana state legislature and has been active in New Orleans civic life for decades. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and residing there today, Carter earned his BA from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986.
