Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on January 8, 2026, addressing the anniversary of the Tucson shooting and recent legislative action regarding Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits.In a post marking the fifteenth anniversary of the Tucson shooting, Carter stated on January 8:

“I’ve been fighting alongside @HouseDemocrats for months to protect the #ACATaxCredits, but on January 1st, Republicans let them expire. Today we’re forcing an up-or-down vote to restore these life and cost saving tax credits for the next three years. Access to affordable health https://t.co/4i9nhd4hhV”

“I proudly voted YES to extend the #ACA Tax Credit for the American people!
