Congressman Troy A. Carter, representing Louisiana’s 2nd district since 2021, has recently expressed his views on various issues through social media posts. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter has a long history of public service, including roles in the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate before joining Congress.
On June 3, 2025, Congressman Carter highlighted economic concerns related to tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump. “Did you know that 64% of voters identified tariff costs being passed onto consumers as a major driver of unaffordability? Despite this, Donald Trump is doubling down on his extreme tariffs plan, even appealing a judge’s decision to block it. Groceries are already expensive and” he tweeted.
Later that day, Carter extended warm wishes for Shavuot to his constituents in Louisiana’s 2nd district. “Wishing all those celebrating in #LA02 a Happy Shavuot! I hope you all enjoy this time of learning, reflection, and togetherness.”
The following day, on June 4th, Carter criticized legislation proposed by Trump. “Trump’s Big Bogus Bill is a disaster—now the CBO confirms it adds $2.4 trillion to the debt and leaves 11 million uninsured. It’s not a plan; it’s a scam—and I’m fighting it every step of the way.”
As an active member of Congress with roots deeply embedded in New Orleans’ community life and politics since graduating from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986 with a BA degree at age twenty-three years old – now fifty-nine-year-old Congressman continues serving people over politics while challenging policies he deems detrimental towards Americans’ welfare nationwide.
