Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed several key issues through his official social media account, including health care affordability, cancer research, and developments in the Middle East.
On October 8, 2025, Carter highlighted concerns over potential changes to health care tax credits: “#ACA tax credits help working families afford health care. If Republicans let these tax credits expire, 43,000 people in #LA02 will see their health coverage costs skyrocket. You shouldn’t have to pay outrageous prices just to see a doctor. Americans deserve affordable health”.
The following day, Carter recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a statement on his commitment to medical research and addressing disparities: “During #BreastCancerAwareness Month, I will continue fighting against attacks on lifesaving cancer research and preventative care, and against the health disparities that prevent people from getting the care they deserve. Please join me in honoring breast cancer fighters,” (October 9, 2025).
Later on October 9, Carter commented on recent international news: “The news of a Middle East peace agreement is a sign of hope for the future and an end to the suffering too many families have endured. I sincerely hope that this moment brings real change: that families in Gaza receive humanitarian aid, that Israeli hostages are reunited with”.
Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021 and previously served in both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992–1994) and Senate (2016–2021). Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
