Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted several updates on his social media accounts covering public health, energy policy, and his podcast.

On August 3, 2025, Carter warned residents about a health risk in the state: “Louisiana: There’s been a rise in a potentially deadly bacteria in our state. While rare, infection can happen—so take steps to protect yourself. Avoid salt water if you have open wounds, and be cautious when handling or consuming raw seafood. The following day, August 4, he promoted the latest episode of his podcast featuring Senator Cory Booker: “Episode 4 of my podcast “What Makes America Tick?” with Senator @CoryBooker is OUT NOW! Senator Booker is literally breaking records in his nonstop fight for the American people. This episode may not be 25 hours long, but we cover a lot — from the #BigUglyLaw and how Trump is https://t.co/yNMcIzSMzz”.

Later on August 4, Carter highlighted his visit to Entergy’s Waterford nuclear facility: “Today I visited @Entergy’s Waterford Team for a town hall and tour of the nuclear facility. I’m continuing my fight for #CleanEnergy, safe communities, and lower utility rates for families. We must ensure our energy future is sustainable, affordable, and community-focused. https://t.co/2VAXKEqAAk”.

Carter has served as Louisiana’s 2nd District representative since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021 and previously held seats in both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992-1994) and Louisiana Senate (2016-2021). Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA in 1986.
