Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing Supreme Court deliberations on citizenship, the Artemis II lunar mission, and Passover observances.
On April 1, 2026, Carter commented on a Supreme Court case regarding citizenship for babies born in the United States: “#SCOTUS is hearing arguments in a case that could decide whether babies born in the United States are citizens. The 14th Amendment is clear, and the president can’t rewrite the Constitution to advance white supremacy.”
Later that day, Carter celebrated NASA’s Artemis II launch and highlighted local contributions: “Artemis II is launching today! I’m incredibly proud of the work done at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans to build the rocket for this mission. We’re sending four astronauts on the first crewed lunar mission since 1972. This is an exciting moment for our nation” (April 1, 2026).
On April 2, Carter extended holiday greetings to his constituents and others observing Passover: “Chad Pesach Sameach to everyone observing Passover around the world and in #LA02. I hope you enjoy this time of reflection as you celebrate stories of faith and freedom.”
Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021. He previously served both in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and in the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963, he continues to reside there today. Carter earned his BA from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986.
