Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted two significant developments on his social media account: the recognition of Judge Kern Reese with a lifetime achievement award and the introduction of bipartisan legislation targeting hazardous food imports.

On August 20, 2025, Carter posted a message congratulating Judge Kern Reese for being honored with the Martinet’s Lifetime Achievement Award. In his post, Carter wrote, “I want to congratulate my dear friend Judge Kern Reese on receiving the Martinet’s Lifetime Achievement Award! This award is given annually to someone dedicated to a lifetime of service to Martinet and the legal profession. Kern has done just that. Congratulations on this https://t.co/T0xgCRqNSK”.

Later that day, Carter shared news about legislative action he has taken alongside Representative Clay Higgins. In his tweet from August 20, 2025, Carter stated, “I introduced the bipartisan Destruction of Hazardous Imports Act with @RepClayHiggins to prevent this type of dangerous imported seafood from reaching stores and dinner plates. By granting the FDA the authority to destroy contaminated food products, we are closing a dangerous”. The following post included only a link: “https://t.co/x06XHptge4”.

Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond as representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district. He previously held seats in both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992-1994) and the Louisiana Senate (2016-2021). Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
