Congressman Troy A. Carter recently shared insights and updates on his various engagements via a series of posts on his social media. Serving as the U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district since 2021, Carter has been active in addressing cultural, technological, and safety issues in his communications.

On April 16, 2025, Carter teased a podcast episode of “What Makes America Tick,” where he engages in “a candid, behind-the-scenes conversation with the top leadership of Essence Festival and Essence Magazine.” The discussion explores the impact Essence has in shaping culture today. Referring to his podcast, Carter asked, “What makes Essence the cultural force it is today?”

Following up on April 17, Carter drew attention to a local infrastructure project by sharing that EPC, a Louisiana-based company with 150 workers, is “ready to get to work laying the fiber that will bring broadband internet to rural communities for the first time.” However, Carter pointed out that they have been delayed since January awaiting the “NTIA and Secretary Lutnick to approve Louisiana’s broadband rollout.” “EPC is a proud #Louisiana company,” he emphasized.

Later on the same day, Congressman Carter expressed his condolences concerning a tragic event, stating, “My prayers are with the FSU students and community. This is a heartbreaking tragedy. No student should ever have to fear for their life at school.” The message underscores Carter’s concern for safety and well-being in educational environments.

Troy Carter has a long political tenure, having first served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994, and later in the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Since succeeding Cedric Richmond in Congress, he has continued to be a significant political figure in Louisiana.
