Congressman Troy A. Carter, representing Louisiana’s 2nd District since 2021, took to social media to engage with his constituents through a series of tweets on June 16 and 17, 2025. Carter, who has a background in both the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate, is actively involved in addressing community concerns and providing resources.
On June 16, Congressman Carter announced his intention to connect directly with residents of Louisiana through town halls. He stated: “#Louisiana, I want to make sure you have access to the information and resources you need. Today and tomorrow, I’m hosting town halls across #LA02 so I can hear from you. I’m also holding resource fairs beforehand featuring federal, state, and local agencies to help you prepare”.
The following day, June 17, he extended an invitation for participation in these events by posting: “Join me today!” His efforts underscore a commitment to engaging with the community through face-to-face interactions.
Later that day on June 17, Congressman Carter expressed concern over potential healthcare impacts due to budget proposals. He tweeted: “The Republican budget won’t just kick people off their health care; it also puts at least 338 rural hospitals at risk of closing. One of those is West Ascension Parish Hospital in #LA02. No billionaire tax break is worth risking the lives of Louisianians.” This highlights his focus on protecting local healthcare facilities from financial jeopardy.
Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there, Troy Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986 with a BA degree.
