Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, marked several cultural and community events on his social media account on April 14, 2026.
In a post commemorating Yom HaShoah, Carter stated: “On Yom HaShoah, we honor the memories of the six million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust. May their memories always be a blessing, and may we continue to fight against antisemitism and hatred in all its forms.” (April 14, 2026).
Later that day, Carter extended greetings for Vaisakhi, writing: “Happy Vaisakhi! May this celebration of faith and abundance remind us of the importance of the Sikh values of charity, unity, and justice.” (April 14, 2026).
He also encouraged participation in an annual art competition for high school students in his district: ” Calling all #LA02 high school artists! It’s time for the 2026 #CongressionalArtCompetition, where you can compete to have your artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year. I’m looking forward to seeing your amazing pieces! The deadline to submit is April 20th. Find more” (April 14, 2026).
Carter has represented Louisiana’s 2nd District since replacing Cedric Richmond in Congress in 2021. Before his current role, he served in both chambers of Louisiana’s state legislature—first as a member of the House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and later as a state senator from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a bachelor’s degree in 1986.
