Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of updates on his legislative activities and positions through social media posts in early April 2026.
On April 9, Carter recapped his recent work in Congress and community involvement, stating, “March was a busy month. I introduced bills like the #CLIMBAct and the #MentalHealthWorkforceAct, broke ground on the Algiers swimming pool, and stood up against Trump’s reckless decisions. The following day, April 10, Carter addressed concerns about LGBTQI+ student safety and marked an important milestone for advocacy efforts. He wrote, “2 in 3 LGBTQI+ students report feeling unsafe at school because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Today, I join my @EqualityCaucus colleagues to honor the 30th anniversary of the #DayOfSilence and reaffirm my commitment to protecting our youth. Every child deserves https://t.co/R3GOk2LEUd”.
Later that same day, Carter commented on state-level legislative developments regarding elected officials: “The Louisiana Legislature has NO right to remove officials elected by the people. Legislation that seeks to eliminate an office after the people have already spoken at the ballot box is not just misguided. It is a direct affront to the very core of our democracy. His career also includes prior service in both chambers of the Louisiana state legislature from 1992 to 1994 and from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter continues to reside there today and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University of Louisiana.
