Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on his official social media account celebrating community milestones and addressing federal policy concerns.

On October 31, 2025, Carter posted a congratulatory message to a local centenarian: “Happy 100th Birthday to Ms. Odile Yvonne Ellison Berry! She is a beloved Louisianian and a true blessing to our community. Wishing her joy and love as she celebrates this remarkable milestone!” The same day, he acknowledged Halloween festivities in his district by sharing personal memories and community engagement: “Happy Halloween #LA02! I remember my days trick-or-treating in the Cutoff, so I delivered candy for the kids growing up there now. Stay safe tonight!”

In another post dated November 2, 2025, Carter expressed criticism of federal policy under the Trump administration: “To add insult to injury, it appears that the Trump administration has now sunk to an all-time low — simply cruel and heartless.

Reports indicate that the @USDA has issued a reminder to retailers prohibiting them from offering special discounts or assistance to families who rely”

Carter has served as the U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. Before his tenure in Congress, he was part of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and served in the Louisiana Senate between 2016 and 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963, Carter remains based in his hometown and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University of Louisiana.
