Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on April 13, 2026, reflecting on community events and offering political commentary.

In his first post of the day, Carter wrote: “It was great to join @JoinAABE to kick off their national conference and honor President & CEO Jay Knott with @Sen_Alsobrooks, former Senator @SenLandrieu, and former Philadelphia Mayor @Michael_Nutter. For decades, AABE has been a driving force in ensuring that African Americans https://t.co/Qp7YUFY9og” (April 13, 2026).

Later that day, he marked a local milestone by stating: “This weekend, we celebrated the 100th birthday of Elder Robert P. Martin, Sr. What a blessing it is to honor a WWII veteran, husband, father, and true icon in the community. I’m grateful to celebrate his incredible life and legacy. Algiers is a community with deep-rooted history,” (April 13, 2026).

Carter also commented on national politics in another post: “First, Donald Trump acted like he was a king. Now, he seems to think he’s God. Instead of glorifying himself or attacking the Pope, he should focus on doing the job of a president and delivering for the American people.” (April 13, 2026).

Congressman Carter has served in Congress since replacing Cedric Richmond in 2021 and previously held seats in both chambers of the Louisiana legislature between 1992-1994 and from 2016-2021 respectively. He was born in New Orleans in 1963 and continues to reside there.

He graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a BA degree in 1986.
