Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight legislative initiatives and local achievements.

On February 10, 2026, Carter addressed youth mental health by stating, “Suicide is a leading cause of death among young people in the United States, and our youth deserve to know they are not alone and help is available. That’s why I proudly introduced the Raising Awareness for Youth Suicide (RAYS) Prevention Act. Join me today on Instagram Live as I”.

Later that day, Carter congratulated Chasity Verret Martinez for her electoral victory: “Congratulations to Chasity Verret Martinez on winning the special election for Louisiana House District 60! Even though Trump won this district three times, she stayed focused on the issues impacting everyday Louisianians like the rising cost of groceries, insurance, and health”.

On February 11, 2026, Carter highlighted educational advancements in New Orleans: “I was honored to join @XULA1925 and @OchsnerHealth to celebrate the advancement of their historic medical school partnership. I was also proud to highlight $3.7 million in #CommunityProjectFunding I secured to support the school’s infrastructure. This is an important step toward”.

Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond and previously held seats in both chambers of Louisiana’s state legislature. Born in New Orleans in 1963, he continues to reside there and graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986.
