Congressman Troy A. Carter has recently taken to social media, voicing his personal reflections and wider legislative aims. Currently serving as a representative for Louisiana’s 2nd district, Carter succeeded Cedric Richmond in 2021 and has been active in both state and national politics since the early ‘90s.
On April 23, 2025, he commented on two significant observances: 4/20 and National Crawfish Day. He expressed his pride in “Last week, we marked two important days: 4/20 and #NationalCrawfishDay!” marking it with his fourth annual event that combines advocacy for cannabis reform with an emphasis on equity in the industry.
Later that day, Carter shared his grief over the passing of E.L. “Bubba” Henry. He posted, “I’m devastated to hear that E.L. “Bubba” Henry passed away.” Carter recalled Henry’s origins in Jackson Parish and his nickname, emphasizing his tenure as Speaker of the Louisiana House.
The following day, Carter commemorated Yom HaShoah, stating, “On Yom HaShoah, we honor the memories of the six million innocent Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust.” He highlighted the ongoing commitment to resisting antisemitism and hatred.
Carter, a native of New Orleans born in 1963, has held representation of Louisiana’s 2nd District in Congress since 2021. He previously served in the Louisiana House and Senate and graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986.
