Troy Carter, U.S. Congressman representing Louisiana’s 2nd district and a lifelong New Orleans resident, shared updates on community achievements and reflections on the city’s ongoing recovery in a series of posts made between August 22 and August 23, 2025.
On August 22, Carter celebrated the return of Damon Singleton to local media, posting: “After retiring last year, I’m so excited that my dear friend Damon Singleton is joining Wake Up, Nola every morning! Welcome back, Damon! @6WxMan @NOLAnews https://t.co/Fk6LCJWxP0 https://t.co/tYSW6JnFli”.
Later that day, Carter highlighted the upcoming anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and the ongoing challenges facing New Orleans. He wrote: “The 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is one week from today. Even though it has been two decades, New Orleans is still recovering. I joined @WWNO’s “Sea Change” podcast to talk about the lessons we’ve learned and where we still need to go. Our city is nothing if not” (August 22).
On August 23, Carter congratulated Benjamin Franklin High School for its national recognition: “Congratulations to Benjamin Franklin High School – ranked #1 in Louisiana and the only LA school in the U.S. Top 100 by U.S. News & World Report! Big shout out to the students, staff, and families who made this achievement possible. https://t.co/sMtA3unae9”.

Prior to his current role, he served in both chambers of the Louisiana legislature over nearly three decades.
