Congressman Troy A. On July 1, 2025, Congressman Carter expressed his determination to fight against the reintroduction of the “Big Ugly Bill” in the House. He criticized the timing of the bill’s push just before Independence Day, stating that it harms American families. “Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill is back in the House, and I’m back in D.C. to fight it. The following day, July 2, 2025, Carter highlighted concerns regarding Medicaid cuts proposed by the Speaker of the House from Louisiana. Later that day, Carter introduced an amendment requiring that all Medicaid cuts be reinvested into the program if passed by Republicans.
