Later that day, he expressed grief over the death of Father Victor Laroche, stating “I am incredibly heartbroken by the passing of Father Victor Laroche. He was an extraordinary faith leader who spread love, compassion, and hope through his role as Chaplain at Xavier University. He was my dear friend and a guiding light to many. Father Laroche’s legacy of service https://t.co/CgrAku4Zwv” on January 23.
On January 24, Carter issued a public safety notice regarding severe winter weather in Louisiana: “#Louisiana, parts of the Northshore are under a winter storm watch, and other areas of #LA02 will experience low temperatures. Carter has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Cedric Richmond and previously held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives (1992-1994) and State Senate (2016-2021). He was born in New Orleans in 1963 and is an alumnus of Xavier University of Louisiana.
