U.S. Congressman Troy A. Carter, who represents Louisiana’s 2nd district, addressed issues related to health care and heritage recognition in a series of posts on November 13, 2025.
On the morning of November 13, Carter criticized recent developments during the open enrollment period for health insurance, stating: “Twelve days into open enrollment, millions of Americans are already feeling the pain of higher premiums, deductibles, and copays. Yet the Senate-negotiated package does nothing to solve the Republican health care crisis. Families deserve real relief, not political games.”
Later that evening, Carter announced his opposition to a proposed Republican budget. Carter also took time that day to acknowledge Native American Heritage Month with a message celebrating Indigenous peoples and their impact in Louisiana: “Happy #NativeAmericanHeritage Month! Carter has served as U.S. Representative for Louisiana’s 2nd District since 2021 after succeeding Cedric Richmond. He previously held positions in both the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 1994 and the Louisiana Senate from 2016 to 2021. Born in New Orleans in 1963 and currently residing there at age 59, Carter graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree.
