Tulane University announced on April 16 that its annual football spring scrimmage will take place this Saturday, April 18, at Yulman Stadium. The event is open to the public with free admission and parking available in Diboll Garage. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m., and the practice session is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m.
The scrimmage offers fans an early look at the upcoming team as preparations begin for the new season. Activities will include a walk-through, stretching, special teams drills, individual work, red zone drills, and a dedicated 30-minute scrimmage period. Additional competitions among special teams and offensive line units are also planned.
Fans attending should note that only Gate B will be open starting at 8:30 a.m., while Gates A and C remain closed. Seating is limited to the East Sideline in Sections 101-111, with restroom access available in the South Endzone only. Tulane’s usual gameday operations apply—including clear bag policies and cashless concession stands—with food and beverage stations located near Sections 109 and 110 offering juice, iced coffee, chips, and snacks. A hospitality area for football letterwinners will be hosted by the athletics department on the Times-Picayune.com deck.
Last season, Tulane finished ranked No. 18 nationally in both major polls—the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Polls—marking just its fourth top-25 finish since 1970. The Green Wave secured their second American Conference title in four years with an overall record of 11-3 and made their first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff under its expanded format as Louisiana’s first CFP participant qualifying as conference champion.
The team achieved two wins over Power Four opponents last year—a feat not accomplished since 1988—and earned thirteen All-Conference selections including Special Teams Player of the Year honors. Key returning All-Conference players for this season include Jack Tchienchou (first-team safety), TJ Smith (third-team return specialist), and Jason Arredondo (third-team designated snapper). Over four seasons Tulane has compiled a record of forty-three wins against thirteen losses.
