Tulane University athletes recorded several strong performances on March 27 during the second day of the Raleigh Relays at Paul Derr Track Facility.
The meet featured standout results for Tulane, with Cara Salsberry placing ninth in the discus event and achieving a mark that ranks among the top five in program history. Salsberry threw a distance of 48.22 meters, which is now the third-best result ever for Tulane in this event. This follows her performance last week when she set another program record.
In distance running events, Alex Sharp ran the third-fastest time in school history for the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:29.91 and placing 24th overall. Allison Hall achieved a personal best in this race with a time of 11:05.69, which stands as eighth-best all-time at Tulane. In the women’s 5,000 meters, Blezzin Kimutai finished thirteenth with a time of 15:54.81—just behind her own school record from last year—and remains the only athlete from Tulane to break sixteen minutes in this event.
Other notable performances included Sofie Groeninger finishing sixty-first in the women’s 100-meter hurdles and Zaria Parker narrowly missing entry into Tulane’s all-time top ten for the women’s standard 100 meters by finishing twenty-third with a time of 11.82 seconds. Additional participants posted personal bests and solid placements across sprinting and middle-distance events.
The final day of competition will take place tomorrow beginning at nine o’clock Central Time with field events such as pole vault and long jump; track events are scheduled to start later that morning.
